Watch the birdie

Was having fun in Kensington Gardens using the FZ20 the other day. I know the image quality isn't perfect (noise!! argh), but it's a really fun camera to have. The 12x zoom puts just about everything within reach - all without the troublesome switching of lenses. And since "fun" is the mood, I deliberately took this close up of a pigeon, since I have a friend who really dislikes them. Can't wait to see the look on his face when he visits this page... Funny enough, it wasn't too easy to take a picture of this pigeon. His head is linked to his legs in some odd fashion. As a pigeon walks, the head jerk forwards and backwards. Hard to get a focus lock. Many of my shots came out misfocused. This frame is the best of the set.

was this shot with a D-SLR? not sure what FZ20 means.
It was taken using a Panasonic FZ20, which is a "point and shoot" digicam. A lot of DSLR users like to bash the FZ20 because of it's relatively high noise levels. But I quite like the camera for it's convenience and the 12x zoom that gets you close up to wild life like in this scene.
