photoblog image Sainte Chapelle

Sainte Chapelle

The Sainte Chapelle in Paris, France. It is reknown for it's extensive amount of stain glass that depicts over a thousand biblical scenes. The photo was taken handheld, since tripods were not allowed on the venue. When I was queuing to enter the Chapelle, there was a group of tourists in the queue behind me. When they saw my camera, they started talking to each other about how they used to have a camera as big as THAT, and thankfully not anymore. They couldn't imagine lugging THAT around and have since "advanced" on to smaller more compact devices. The way the said it was in such a demeaning tone, and it annoyed me quite a bit. Well, the result of the big camera are here for everyone to see... I do wonder what they got. ;)

=-= Anyone a music buff? =-=

Not sure if anyone here is into music - if you are, this maybe interesting. I got a pair of Etymotic 6i Isolator earphones today. Wow, the noise isolation is great. When you put it on, it reduces outside noise significantly, allowing you to play music at a lower volume. This is really useful now that people are starting to discover that iPods are damaging their hearing. As for the sound quality, the Etymotic's treble is clear and crisp without being harsh. However, the bass lacks depth. Not that it's bad, but Sennheisers easily rule here.

One word "WOW"

Since one word does not convey my like/love of this picture, I will add one of the best pics I have seen in a while.

What lens was used? I love the colour tones, almost makes you think it's one of those paintings hanging in a museum. I really like(sorry love) it.

As for the small minded tourists, I really do wonder what they got smile

Thanks for the kind comments guys. The lens used in this shot was the Canon 17-40L. It's actually the lens that is the least sharp in my L collection. But the 17-40L's colour is good wide open, and when you stop it down to f/5.6 it is tack sharp. Now if only it had a bit more reach....

I love the way the vertical pillars and beams lead your eyes through all the detail in the shot. If only we had stuff like that to shoot here in SG. =^/

Anyway, the 17-40L is also the least sharp L i have but i've found the range indispensable (altho abit short, like you mentioned). We can only hope for a new 24-105 F2.8 standard zoom for 1.6x crop bodies to be announced at PMA. smile Heehee. we can dream can't we?

Oooh, I've heard great things about the Etymotic 6i earphones. Was considering a pair until i found the local price. hee hee. I found consider paying that kind of $$$ for headphones but not earphones. Besides, the Sony in-ear EX-71s seems to do a pretty good job for a fraction of the price (they are almost like ear plugs).
loving it.... great technical abiliy!
