photoblog image Millennium Bridge

Millennium Bridge

Selected from a series of 60 photos taken as the sun set over London in the winter. I chose this particular shot as the colour seemed the best of the lot. I think Funmi would like it. Also, no cropping was done at all, the photo was composed this way when it was taken (no cheating!). Though with digital nowadays, it's so easy to edit and crop out bits of the photograph that are distracting or unwanted. Do you approve of photographers editing and cropping their images? Is that considered as cheating? Tell us what you think.

Mark out of 10....11! I think this is the best I've seen you take. Everything is just right, colour, the bridge leading into the Cathedral, contrast...I could go on.

On the subject of cheating, I disagree, it's still a photographer whether the shot has been edited or not, I call it photo enhancement!
U know the first time I saw this shot on vizero I was seriously impressed and it blew me away. still impressed, although i feel it needs contrast (thats my opinion), also needs a bit more saturation. maybe its just my monitor, but the shot seemed slightly different (colour and saturation) on vizero. great shot regardless
I love it, another wonderful image. Took some similar pictures recently but didn't get as good results.

In terms of 'editing' I've not polished my framing skills so often crop and may alter balance and contrast etc but have not removed subjects from the images yet. I don't see it as cheating as I always think that you are presenting an image to appeal to others.

Photography is a form of art and art is all about interpretation.

You bro, daaaammmmmmmmmnnn, you have certainly outshone yourself. This is a very good lovely beautiful artsy fartsy shot. I agree with Jide. full marks and some.

I also think we have to be careful in the age of the digital. Post production tricks seems to be king now.

I think yes we should be able to enhance our shots, but when we are enhancing 100% of our images, I start to think whats going on?

I do edit some of my pics don't get me wrong, but I also am trying to learn to take pics that do not require any touching up.

Thats why this shot stands out for me. Good job Duane.

Thanks for the wonderful comments guys. I think with DSLRs, we need to at least apply a bit of sharpening. So some touching up of the photo is inevitable.

"Photoshoppers" are actually not so different from the traditional photographers who choose their film, and then paper / chemicals when they develop their shots. At least in terms of colour. However, extreme amounts of cropping does alter photos somewhat more than people did in the past.

Another fine composition. Perfect lighting on the dome and columns.
Interesting composition and colors. Extremely well seen here. The purple sky plays well off the cold whites and blue steels. Nice!

Hi Duane, great shot, what does it for me is the spot lights under the V pillars. Superb.
