POWER mac (geddit?)

Today is a day for bad puns I'm afraid. This is actually an iBook, not a PowerMac. But hey, what better title to draw attention to the Power button??

I really like the design of Macs. Now that Apple has started using Intel chips, I'm really looking forward to someone getting Windows to run on a Mac. They concentrate more on ergonomics and usability than anyone else. The new models have taken this 1 step further. Even trip across your laptop's power cable before? With the new Macs, the cables are attached using magnets. So if you trip, it disconnects easily and nobody gets hurt.

Now if only Canon paid that kind of attention to the ergonomics of their cameras.

=-= I want your comments =-=

Yesterday 100 people visited my blog... but I got a grand total of 2 comments. Common guys, you can do better than that. A simple "nice" or "horrid" comment would be greatly appreciated. Don't be shy! I don't bite... promise.

I agree with you about style & design. Apple is really the top! But I never got used to their operating system. I owned a PowerMac and it crashed so many times that I switched back to a (less hip!) Windows powered notebook.
Where is the reset button ? smile

Planning on buying an ibook in the nearest future. I have worked with windows based laptops and PCs all my life and it's going to be a very interesting change.

Anyone with Mac softwares (CS2 anyone), start to holla at me

Wonder why people don't bother to leave comments. Drives me nuts.

Picture? not my kind of thing.

HORRID! - There you happy?

Just kidding.
I've tried to use my friend's G4 powerbook just to perform the simple task of web surfing. Didn't go too well. There's quite a learning curve there. Thing that irks me the most is the lack of a right click! But i think they have "fixed" that?

Anyway, I don't like the shot. If the focus was on the power button, it's way too central in the frame and lacks any other sort of way to stand out. I think the ring around it glows orange or something periodically. Capturing that would have made it look cooler. The blue from the screen also distracts. Why not try your 50 F1.8 wide open for some shallow DOF effect?
Thanks for the comments everyone. Seems that the Mac vs. PC debate never fails to get people talking. wink

Denosha: you can plug in a normal USB mouse to the Mac to get 3 buttons. Or you can press the equivalent of the control key + the 1 button mouse to get right click. That's the least of the worries.

For me, the main gripe was the fancy interface took up too much screen space. So the "working area" was much reduced. But shouldn't be a problem on those nice 17" screens (I've got a 12" only). If I could run Windows on Mac hardware, I'd buy a MacBook in a heart beat.

Ps. this was shot using the FZ20. I really should give it another try with the extension tube some time.

I like your style of photography. The reason I like it is becasue i have found instances of the golden ratio/fibonacci in your pictures - is this a planned or chance.

Thanks once again for all the comments guys. It's great to have a lively discussion like this.

jlc: welcome to my photoblog, it's good to see you here. I appreciate your comments very much.

Borah: Interesting that you should bring that up. I tend to follow the rule of thirds. Also, I usually crop my photo to a 4:3 or 3:2 aspect ratio (golden ratio is quite close to the latter - approx 1.6 right?).
The blue on the screen makes it, to me. It wouldn't be nearly as striking without it.
