Mailboxes

Answer to yesterday's challenge
Thanks everyone for posting and guessing what purfume was pictured yesterday. The answer is that it is GUCCI ENVY. Ade came the closest to getting it right! It usually has a pale green colour. My shot came out a bit more yellowish - perhaps because of the very strong light behind the bottle.

Today's shot
A couldn't resist taking this row of mailboxes shot after the closing time at Mailboxes etc (yes, the etc is part of the name). However, being at night, the lighting conditions were rather poor. So I found it best to make this a black and white. The colours in the original were awful.

Some touching up was done to ensure that all the lines in the image are prefectly straight. Cameras (at least cheap ones like mine) distort the image a bit.

For tomorrow
What would you like to see tomorrow? Another black and white shot, or one with colour? Tell me what you'd like to see, and I'll post the one with the most popular demand tomorrow.

Hmm.. you know what would really add to this shot? If one of the boxes somewhere towards the back were mysteriously left open and the number on it was 666 or something. That would be creepy. hee hee.
The Maven: Now, that's a very good idea! I like your thinking. smile

I likey a lot, real good.

Bet you noticed I made no comments on your shot yesterday smile Not my type of shot, good but nothing I could have added so shut my mouth smile (bet The Duane was happy)

However, this one, very good, like something you will see out of a Hitchcock film.

The Maven: LOL... "The Duane". That one really cracked me up. wink I wonder if I should continue to use my nick when posting on the blogs, or whether I should use my real name. What do you think?
Love this shot. Seems like rows upon rows of people's private lives all lined up.
The Maven: Good to see you here Eric, thanks for dropping by. I like your Parisian shots too!
Cool stuff.....Black and white!!!
the repetition of boxes, very nice idea
The Maven: Thanks Fabrizio. A warm welcome to my blog. I tried to visit yours, but it says "server not found" when I go to www.photo.effe.com. I'll try again later.
Evening Duane, my favourite subjects are repetitive themes of ordinary items so I love this. Really like what you've got here! And I thought weekends were for posting weaker stuff!
The Maven: Yes, I do notice that trend too. Visitors tend to drop off over the weekend, so posting weaker stuff appears to make sense. Then on Monday visitors skyrocket again because everyone is surfing from work (*AHEM*). But this is the first weekend that the trend didn't hold! The blogger community just discovered our site! smile
Nice perspective? Which one is yours? smile
The Maven: None actually... it's the local Mailboxes etc shop I pass by every day when on the way home from college. Though maybe one day I will open up an account. For those mail where you need to sign, it's quite a hassle to arrange a re-delivery whenever you miss the postman. sad

Hi, Duane. Nice lines. It's abstract without being abstract. You know what I would love? Is if you broke a law (or at least a by law) and painted one of the boxes in the foreground, 798 looks good, black. That would really make for an intriuging and different shot; Hell you could do this in PS if you really wanted. Excellent capture. Regards, Brent
The Maven: Hi Brent! Thanks for the comments. I like your idea, especially since it's still possible to achive this with PS (sometimes people look at a once in a life time shot and say "you should try this next time"!). Will definately try it out one day.
hehe ... I like Denosha's idea above. That would be really creepy.
This is a really neat one; great eye to catch this.
Great observation and depth of field....nice one.

I like this -- simple, with interesting lines. The b&w also a good choice.
