Drummer

This week's theme: Live gigs!

Following an earlier request for a drummer photos, I decided to dig one out of my college collection. Here's the drummer from Donkey Box last year. As a photographer, the drummer is the most challenging person to photograph during a gig - they're usually hidden behind, and the spot light is rarely shining on them. Yet, without a drummer, what music would there be?

I've used a slow shutterspeed on this one to capture the drumming motion. It also helped with the exposure, since the lighting again was horrid (and also the reason for going black and white). Hope you guys like it.

I have some really good shots of a drummer from the Jazz Cafe. Me being me, I got on the stage to capture it, okay we'll talk about that another time.

Got a good shot here man!

Drimmers are the next best people to shoot next to guitarist, but they are often sitted at the back and it becomes difficult to get them. A similar shot from me is at http://shuva.aminus3.com/image/2005-10-07.html

Great shot Duanne...how did you manage to get this shot?
Nice capture, Duane! This one has a lot of emotion in it. It looks like the drummer is contemplating someething serious, even though he's just going through the motions. I think I like BWs from you; I would be intrested to see a lot more of them.
Another nice shot but it looks like something is coming out of his nose ! ;-)

Under the circumstances, it's aiight, good idea to go monochrome (you get brownie points for that). Try shooting in manual mode next time. You have more control over what you shoot when in conditions like this. smile

This is a very cool shot it works so well in B & W. The sharpness of the image and then the blur on the drumstick catches to scene wonderfully
